After years abroad in Singapore, our clients returned with a clear intent to renovate their family home in Balmoral Beach, Sydney. Studio George was engaged to oversee the complete redesign of the interior and connected exterior spaces, collaborating closely with the architect and builder.
While the overall structure of the residence was preserved, the interior layout and fit-out were completely reimagined. Previously cold and industrial, the home had a fragmented flow that created a sense of isolation between rooms and lacked smooth transitions.
The new design features four distinct levels, each meticulously crafted to offer a personalised sanctuary for each occupant, while also facilitating effortless family gatherings and outdoor connections.
In response to our clients brief for a home that reflects originality, quality finishes and comfort, we created a home where textures, colour and form harmonise in a unique interplay.

In response to our clients brief for a home that reflects originality, quality finishes and comfort, we created a home where textures, colour and form harmonise in a unique interplay.
Our clients were eager to incorporate their significant
furniture and treasured objects with new acquisitions. The challenge was bringing all of the elements together in new combinations. Their esteemed art collection played a pivotal role in our curatorial process. Within the dining room – which forms the heart of the home – a Joshua Yeldham painting inspired our selection of an expansive oval table surface given its bark-like markings. Serving as a theatrical backdrop, we designed a climate-controlled wine cellar encased in glass to showcase the impressive bottle collection.
The material selection makes some bold statements: electric gold marble, yellow limestone-rendered walls, and a mix of mint green with soft greys. Yet, despite these daring choices, the palette retains a subtle atmosphere. We have created a living environment where textures, colour, and form come together in a truly unique and harmonious interplay. The results are a light infused residence which creates an atmosphere of understated, luxurious barefoot elegance.
